Shakti Sunfire
Shakti Sunfire was first introduced to the hoop during her gypsy years as an avid fan of the String Cheese Incident. 4 years later, she has witnessed the unfolding of her unique style and focus in the hoop and seeks to challenge herself whenever possible. Immersed in dance classes, Anusara yoga intensives and aerial fabric training, Shakti has developed a larger vision for this type of Movement Art. A fusion of choreography, flow, yogic philosophy and circus improv that encourages unfettered self-expression – a deep release and illumination of the 'true self'. She believes tapping into this sacred place within is ultimately very healing. As Rumi so eloquently said, “The source is within you, And this whole world is springing up from it.”
She is a certified Hatha yoga teacher, enjoys teaching periodic hoop dance workshops and is a writer by trade. When she is not doing these things, she spends her time studying Tantric philosophy and making Cosmic Firehoops, an art that she sees as an avenue from which to joyously interact with others.
