Garth Stevenson
Garth Stevenson was born and raised in the breathtaking Canadian Rockies where nature became the common thread through his life and music. He regularly carries his 150-year-old bass to the woods, the beach, the desert, and most recently to the penguins in search of new music, sounds, and inspiration.
Stevenson introduced his meditative music to the yoga community at Wanderlust last year in a class led by Elena Brower. Upon returning to New York he began collaborating regularly with Elena Brower at her studio in Soho, Virayoga. Together they forged musical ideas with teachings to create their own flowing language. Recently Brower and Stevenson led a yoga class for 10,000 people in Central Park and have also given classes at the Museum of Modern Art. His solo album "Alpine" was recently reviewed in Yoga Journal and Double Bassist Magazine. Stevenson has also collaborated with Schuyler Grant, Samantha Shakti Brown, Kelly Blaser, Kate Greer, Richmond Dickson, Sianna Sherman, Stacey Rosenberg, and Stephanie Sandleben.
