Village Anusara

The second annual Wanderlust Festival returns to the stunning peaks of Squaw Valley USA in Lake Tahoe, CA from July 29 to August 1, 2010. Wanderlust was grateful and honored to have John Friend and so much of the Anusara Kula participating in its inaugural event last summer. In 2010, Anusara and Wanderlust areworking closely together to present an integrative, educational and wildly thrilling communal space. Come join the Merry Band and artistically offer your individual light and your own unique music to the heartfelt prayer of adding more beauty, love, and goodness to the world. Drink from the exquisite and intoxicating nectar of Tantric yoga philosophy while Hoop Dancing with some of the greatest hoopers in the country. Don't be surprised as you wander through the Village between practices finding yourself learning to balance on a slackline with the YogaSlackers. Explore all the freedoms of expression and connection that come with reclaiming the joy of the child within at the Play Lounge. Learn to fly (or be flown) with Jason & Jenny, co-founder's of AcroYoga and their tribe. All the while, deepen your Asana practice with master teachers Elena Brower, Sianna Sherman, and much more...

YOGASLACKERS

The YogaSlackers are an eclectic bunch of yogis that are known from their yoga poses done above ground on a slackline. They are extremely high spirited individuals with shared enthusiasm for the environment and a variety of practices including AcroYoga, hooping, climbing, adventure racing and eco-expeditions. Come play and Redefine your sense of Balance!

About Slacklining: The easy way to describe slacklining is to say that it is like tightrope walking, but in truth it is quite different. Slackliners walk and balance above the ground on a piece of 1” flat tubular webbing (the kind that rock climbers use), tensioned between two solid anchor points. The webbing is very dynamic, so it stretches a bit. Tightropes are less dynamic, stiffer and a bit wider. The YogaSlackers have developed a style of yoga for the line; although it is very difficult to learn, the rewards are incredible!

PLAY LOUNGE

The Play Lounge experience inspires true spontaneity. An invitation to dance and flow in alignment with your natural rhythms, holding patterns are released, and new movement trails are integrated creating therapeutic opening, freedom and expansion on many levels.

ACROYOGA

AcroYoga blends the spiritual wisdom of yoga, the loving kindness of Thai massage, and the dynamic power of Acrobatics. These three ancient lineages form this practice that cultivates trust, connection and playfulness. There are 7 main elements that make up the practice: circle ceremony, asana, partner flow, Thai massage, therapeutic flying, inversions & spotting, and partner acrobatics. Our highest aim is to bring individuals into a state of union with themselves, with each other, and with the divine. From this place of mutual support the true self can be realized, celebrated and shared for the benefit of all.

Village Hoopers

Hoop Dance is a movement mediation that is spiraling into the hearts and bodies of co-creators all over the world. Come join Shakti Sunfire, Nayeli, (e)volver, Hoopalicious and many more radiant hoop hipsters in this wildly playful circle dance at Village Anusara. Bring your own hoop or use one of ours as you dive into playshops that will inspire your inner child and empower your unique expression. Be awed by impromptu circle shows and jaw dropping trick demos, and discover what glows in the night when the sun goes down. The name of the game is SHRI and you’re on our team. See you there!
